2012 - 09/27/2012 - US DepaUS Department of Labor's OSHA cites The Home Depot for exposing workers to electrical hazards at Chicago store; more than $69,000 proposed in penalties: CHICAGO – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited Atlanta-based The Home Depot Inc. for two repeat and one serious safety violations for exposing employees to electrical hazards at a Chicago store. OSHA opened an inspection in July that was prompted by a referral about blocked electrical panels in the store. Proposed fines total $69,300.

"The Home Depot has a responsibility to protect the safety of its employees by minimizing exposure to hazards, such as by clearly marking electrical boxes," said Diane Turek, director of OSHA's Chicago North Area Office in Des Plaines.
