Health and safety reps needed! - RCN

Health and safety reps needed! - RCN: The number of health and safety representatives in the region has declined slowly over the last few years, and in these changing times we need more members to take up this vital role, representing the health and safety interests of our members in the workplace.

Health and Safety representatives work in partnership with employers to help promote a safe and healthy working environment, and ensure that they adhere to good health and safety practices.

Other tasks include:

influencing the employer to work towards a healthy and safe environment, and negotiate and represent the health and safety interests of RCN members at work
carrying out safety inspections and contribute to risk assessments in the workplace
representing RCN members on matters related to workplace accidents and incidents.

For more information about the role, download a PDF of what the role entails by visiting our Health and Health and Safety role online.

The RCN provides learning and development opportunities for all safety representatives. This starts with completing the learning and development programme for newly accredited representatives through to advanced master classes and bespoke workshops for experienced representatives.

For more information contact Julie Stedham via email on: Julie.stedham@rcn.org.uk or contact RCN Direct on 0845 772 6100 who can advise you further.
